Holby City to air special episode

The BBC have announced that Holby City has worked with the mental health charity Mind on a special episode focusing on male mental health, for an
upcoming episode.

Viewers will see long-serving Dr Sacha Levy (Bob Barrett) struggle with his emotions after a devastating surgical outcome for a favourite patient.

The episode departs from Holby’s usual format, exploring previously shown scenes from a new perspective, as the shattered consultant looks back at a testing year at Holby.

Simon Harper, Executive Producer of Holby City and Casualty, said: “This is an incredibly important episode of Holby where we completely depart from our normal format, focusing on one troubled year in the life of one beloved, vulnerable character,” explains Simon Harper, Executive Producer of Holby City and Casualty. “Brilliant writer Michelle Lipton shines a light on the vital issue of male mental health and how it can slip under the radar because of the reluctance of many men like Sacha who avoid seeking help for fear of appearing weak.”

Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. You can visit their website by clicking here.

Holby City airs this episode on the 28th August on BBC One.
